A False Bag of Goods – Change and Hope!

by James Cox

Change & Hope, what a false bag of goods the American people bought.

On the President-Elects website www.change.gov/learn ,  it states:

“The change we need isn’t just about new programs and policies. It’s about a new politics – a politics that calls on our better angels instead of encouraging our worst instincts; one that reminds us of the obligations we have to ourselves and one another.” – Let me point out one thing here, I am an individual, I do not accept the collective mind set. obligations we have to ourselves and one another.” – I am not obligated to anyone.

Ayn Rand once said,It only stands to reason that where there’s sacrifice, there’s someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there’s service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master.”

The website at: www.change.gov/agenda, states:

President-elect Obama and Vice President-elect Biden have developed innovative approaches to challenge the status quo in Washington and to bring about the kind of change America needs.

The Obama Administration has a comprehensive and detailed policy agenda. Among many important domestic and foreign policy objectives, priorities of the Obama Administration include: a plan to revive the economy; provide affordable, accessible health care to all; strengthen our public education and social security systems; define a clear path to energy independence and tackle climate change; end the war in Iraq responsibly and finish our mission in Afghanistan; work with our allies to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.

I ask one question.  Where is the money coming from to pay for all this?

The Answer: You, the tax payer of course, and this is just the beginning of the false bag of goods the American public bought. The expansion of more governmental programs means bigger government, accessible health care to all”, this most definitely means more taxes.  You can not provide healthcare for FREE!  There is NO such thing as a FREE lunch. – If you look at European countries that have national health care you will see that their taxes are higher, they also have something called VAT (Value Added Tax). In the UK the VAT is 17.5%, of course you do not see it, it is already built into the price of the item.

Now here is where it gets even scarier on this part of the website http://www.change.gov/agenda/service_agenda

“Your own story and the American story are not separate — they are shared. And they will both be enriched if we stand up together, and answer a new call to service to meet the challenges of our new century … I won’t just ask for your vote as a candidate; I will ask for your service and your active citizenship when I am president of the United States. This will not be a call issued in one speech or program; this will be a cause of my presidency.”

— Barack Obama, Speech in Mt. Vernon, IA December 5, 2007

And again at: http://www.change.gov/americaserves

“When you choose to serve — whether it’s your nation, your community or simply your neighborhood — you are connected to that fundamental American ideal that we want life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness not just for ourselves, but for all Americans. That’s why it’s called the American dream.”

The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start.

This is nothing but National Conscription (The Draft) dressed up in cotton wool, yet again expanding and creating more governmental programs.

Obama says in his above speech: I will ask for your service and your active citizenship when I am president of the United States. And also: The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges. All this calling, serving, expanding and creating additional programs is Socialism to the fullest.  This is when the government gets not only into your business, but also into your life.

    About http://www.change.gov/americaserves:

This is what the website originally stated: “Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year.”

Although the wording has changed, the agenda is clear: slavery for America.

It seems they’re trying to make it seem that we unquestionably owe everything we have to everyone else and that we share everything.

    That scares me.

Hi James, I personally see little difference between the democrats and republicans right now, since they both want massive governmental intervention. The republicans have been the big government corporate welfare party. The democrats just want more of that welfare to go to the people instead of corporations – they are both wrong.

Indeed, where is all this money going to come from? Haha…it’s a catch 22 and the people are going to pay. I can’t honestly say there is a republican candidate I favor over a democrat. I oppose all of them. Though I oppose his views on abortion and his some of his Christian positions, I voted for Chuck Baldwin in the election. Man, I wish the Libertarian party got it’s act together as they have become sell outs.

How can we influence millions of liberals to see the benefits of individualism? When I criticize Obama, they shun me and decide to not listen. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great that a black president was elected. Too bad he is not a hard core constitutional anarchist.

We will convert the liberals. Its only a matter of being smarter about it than they are. Understanding every aspect of an idea, all its inherent implications and consequences. Presenting irrefutable arguments. Knowing more and being more effective is what its all about. Light the fires of liberty, one mind at a time.
